Best Live Music Bars in Nottingham

Picture this: you’re meeting with your group of best friends for a much needed catch up. You stroll into a local bar which none of you have tried before, order some drinks, and just as you are about to take a sip, you hear the first notes of the live band floating to you from the small stage across the room. Nothing beats the atmosphere of live music, whether it’s a band, performer or DJ, it seems to add a touch of magic to your evening which is irreplaceable by anything else. With this in mind, we have rounded up our favourite live music bars in Nottingham just for you! The Bodega Address: 23 Pelham Street, NG1 2ED

The Bodega is a live music venue, well known across the Midlands, having played host to some huge acts over the past two decades (and having hosted their after parties too, so we hear). Arctic Monkeys, Florence and the Machine, and Coldplay are just some of the huge names that have taken to the stage in this iconic space. A popular hangout for students and locals alike, The Bodega also sports a Secret Garden where live DJs can be found playing way into the night. Whether you’re looking to see a top performer, or just to hear a mix or two, this is the perfect spot for a fun night out.

Maze Address: 257 Mansfield Road, NG1 3FT The Maze Rocks (aka ‘Maze’) is a live music venue, unique in the fact that it allows its customers to choose the performers. With a mix of live performers and DJs, Maze provides an experience for all music lovers. They host several regular events, such as their Open Mic Night for new artists to come and showcase their talents, and ‘Notts in a Nutshell’ where local Nottingham favourites can get up and play. If you like a night where you’re in control, The Maze Rocks might be offering exactly what you’re looking for. The Southbank Bar Address: 1 Bridgford House Pavilion Road, NG2 5GJ The Southbank is primarily a sports bar, with twenty-four high spec TVs, including one in every booth. They show every major sporting event throughout the year, and cannot be beaten on quality or sports hospitality in Nottingham. They are also famous for their live music shows: hosted on their custom-made stage with brilliant sound system, they have had everything from local cover artists (like ‘Noasis’ and ‘Guns or Roses’) to headline acts play. So if sports gives you a kick, and live music makes you want to do a twirl, come and check out The Southbank Bar. Hopefully we gave a good ‘pitch’... (we’ll bow out here).

Bunkers Hill Address: 36-38 Hockley, NG1 1FP Famous for its extensive beer collection, as well as its live music, Bunkers Hill sits on the edge of Hockley, near Old Market Square. The upstairs bar room is where much of the live music takes place, and has showcased both local talent and national acts (like Adele, and Mumford & Sons). ‘Free Friday’ is a weekly night hosted at Bunkers Hill, where professional up and coming rock bands play from 8pm onwards. The drink deals are also super cheap. But you’re sure to have fun here whichever night you choose to go! Botanist Address: 40 Bridgford Road, NG26AP

Botanist brings all the beauty of nature to you, with large ornate décor and an upper-class green thumb feel, it is hard to tell whether you’re in an arboretum or a bar - especially once you’ve had a couple of their special, botanically infused cocktails. Located out of the city centre in West Bridgford, it provides the perfect space to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax. With a variety of live music playing every night, you don’t have to wait for the weekend to sit back, relax and enjoy.
