Our Favourite Beer Gardens in Nottingham This Spring

We've made it to March. Spring is officially here!

We know it may be a bit premature, but I think we can all agree that we need something to look forward to! As the evenings become lighter for longer, we've chosen 5 of our favourite beer gardens for you to enjoy a beverage, al fresco style!

Sir John Borlase Warren

Located in Canning Circus, our first multi-levelled beer garden is definitely a favourite of ours. With a sun terrace upstairs, it's the perfect spot to enjoy a drink in the warmer months. With fitted wooden benches, colourful pillows and parasols, Sir John gives all the summer vibes!

The pub serves a variety of unique real ales, ciders and lagers to treat your tastebuds, as well as pizzas and other light bites. It's also dog-friendly, with the resident four-legged friend sure to greet you upon your visit!

The Canalhouse Bar

As one of Nottingham's most unique venues, this one is definitely worth a visit! The Grade II former canal museum is home to a cosy bar, with two narrowboats residing underneath a foot bridge.

Outside, the seating area is protected by a glass roof, covered in hundreds of twinkling fairy lights. We know the evenings are still chilly, but the Canalhouse has your back. The benches are conveniently located below hanging heaters, ensuring you won't notice the cool evening breeze! Located right on the canal, this picturesque spot is ideal for evening catch-ups.

Magic Garden

Nestled in the cobbled streets of the Lace Market next to Paul Smith, Magic Garden is one of the newer additions to Nottingham's bar scene.

A collaborative restoration project by Hockley Arts Club, Das Kino and Penny Lane has seen the beautiful Grade II listed Georgian building transformed into a hidden oasis of tropical plant-life and vibrant colours.

Tucked away behind the former Jamie's Restaurant, you may never have realised it existed. For newcomers, the floral archway hints you're in the right location. Walking into the garden, you're met with a feast for the eyes.

Pretty by day, the extensive outdoor seating area becomes even more stunning at night. With glistening disco balls, coloured lighting filling the surrounding trees and upbeat tunes playing through hidden speakers; the atmosphere is guaranteed to banish all those winter blues!

Their extensive array of cocktails and premium spirits are served from their outdoor bar, certain to get you in the summer mood!

The Bodega

This bar on Pelham Street, in the heart of the city centre, has a reputation for highlighting emerging musical talent (name drop...Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys have both played here in their rise to the top).

Their recently refurbished beer garden boasts a buzzing atmosphere most evenings. With Happy Hour running from 4-7pm everyday, enjoy a Bodega lager under their trademark hanging lights, illuminating many an after work drink and late night get together. Throughout the summer their regular acoustic sessions and barbecues secure the garden’s place as one of the coolest, secluded corners of the city centre to hide away from it all and enjoy some great drinks.

Brewhouse & Kitchen

With a beer garden overlooking the River Trent, Brewhouse & Kitchen is the perfect scenic spot to enjoy a beverage with friends and family. As a brewpub, they brew all their beer at the onsite microbrewery, each one unique to the pub! Paired with its own outdoor bar, this chic venue also serves a variety of tasty dishes. They love to pair each of their 50 beers with a dish on the menu (many dishes have beer featured in the recipe too!)

Although out of the city centre, Brewhouse is in close proximity to Nottingham Forest Football Ground, the Cricket Ground and also half way to West Bridgford! With the warmer months approaching, it's the ideal pit-stop for a day out in Nottingham.
